Meanwhile, the current provider, Waste Connections, is introducing a new concept in recycling. The existing policy of limited products placed in a small container is being replaced with a comprehensive, single process that includes providing a second container the same size as the existing trash container for recycling. The larger container is to accept the expected larger volume of recyclables because of the wide variety of products that will be added to the recyclable list. The new list includes corrugated cardboard, cereal, pop and shoe boxes, etc., newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, other light colored papers, glass containers that are clear, amber or green, plastics #1 through #7, steel cans, aluminum cans and clean aluminum foil. Collection periods remain every other week. Restrictive covenant prohibiting containers from being visible except on collection day still apply. (Covenants Article IV 4.13) “Containers may be placed in the open on any day that a pickup is to be made, at such place on the Lot so as to provide access to persons making such pickup. At all other times, such containers shall be stored in such a manner so that they cannot be seen from adjacent and surrounding property. If you cannot accommodate the extra container an alternative to consider would be to ask a neighbor to accept your recyclables the weight of which would then be credited to their account. What's under construction on E. 29th Street ? A new Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall is going up east of Woodlawn on the north side of Jackson Elementary School and across the street from the Great Plains Nature Center. TreesFour dead pine trees were removed from the Villas area and a Willow from near Champions Lake. Mulch was added to the island at the first cul-de-sac east of Rock on Champions. Christmas DecorationsVolunteer Willowbend residents gathered on Saturday, November 22, to place Christmas decorations on fourteen monuments then came back to the clubhouse for lunch. A good time was had by all and the neighborhood will have the holiday look because of their efforts. Thank you Lucky Bryant, Brian Rogers, John and Helen McCabe, Ron Dreiling, J..R. and Rhita Muci, Richard Giordano, Archie Macias and David & Joyce Babich. |
